Field Notes · §04

Started by two people who were tired of paying markups.

Blackmane was founded in 2024 by Christian Phillips and Luke Stadtmauer. Luke, a professional freelance brand scaler from New Jersey, saw firsthand how inflated fashion pricing had become. Christian brought the operational rigor to make something better.

Their thesis was simple: build premium-quality clothing and sell it at a fraction of the price. No middlemen. No inflated retail margins. Just honest materials, honest labor, and an honest price. Everything they've built has been made possible by the people who bought in early and kept coming back.

"Premium quality shouldn't require a premium price tag."
